FARS Open Day

On Saturday 8 August 2026 we headed to Woolly Park Farm for the Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary summer open day and vegan fair.

The sun was shining, and the place was full of vegan stalls and charities. We tucked into a hot dog, some samosas and a cheesecake from the lovely Chappers Cheesecake, which was absolutely banging.

The best part, as always, was the animals. We brought our own treats to hand out: Rich Tea biscuits for the sheep, apples for the pigs and tins of sweetcorn for the chickens. Everyone there is welcome, whatever their species. Even the rat is treated as part of the family rather than a pest, and the pigeons are as safe as every other bird on site.

We’ve supported FARS for many years, so it’s great to see them with a regular stall at Vegan Camp Out. We enjoyed the day so much that we’re hoping to come back next year. It was also lovely to spend time with like-minded people, including our good friends Ronnie and Louise.

Later we had a wander around. They rescue dogs, sheep, lambs, pigs and goats, and the rats felt welcome too. The pigeons were in there as well, sheltering from the sunshine. There was a little baby pig trotting about and a huge pig lying inside, and they were all just living their best life. Every one of them is well looked after.

ABOUT FARS

FARS is based at Woolly Park Farm, Saddlebow Lane, Wolverton, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, CV37 0HQ. Carole Webb started it in 1988 (charity number 1203938). It costs around £90,000 a year to run, and they never make a profit. Every penny goes back into the animals.

It’s a strictly vegan sanctuary, and any food or drink you bring onto the grounds has to be fully vegan, out of respect for the animals in their care. You can’t save one kind of animal and then eat another. When we still had the restaurant, we supported them there too.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Even a small gift matters. UK taxpayers can add Gift Aid, which turns £10 into £12.50. You can also sponsor a resident, buy from their Amazon or eBay wish list, use easyfundraising, or pick up some volunteer-designed merch, where 100% of the profits go to the animals.

They do amazing work, and they work incredibly hard. FARS has been going for many years, and it’s important that we back this well-established sanctuary and help keep it going.
